Suspended deputy prosecutor general Mircea Roșioru decided to give up his position. The information was confirmed for IPN by prosecutor Mariana Cherpec, who is in charge of media relations at the Prosecutor General’s Office.
The resignation was tendered on October 18 and this is being examined. An order on the acceptance of the resignation hasn’t been yet made. Mircea Roșioru invoked personal reasons in his letter.
Earlier, Iurie Perevoznic also quit as deputy prosecutor general, arguing this is the only solution as he was practically detached from the institution’s activity. The third deputy prosecutor general, Ruslan Popov, who was also suspended, is under house arrest, being investigated for unjust enrichment.
