The Ministry of Justice secured the promise of political support and the political commitment of the Government and Parliament for the judicial reform, head of the Minister of Justice’s staff Rodica Secrieru stated in the program “Black Box” on TV8 channel, IPN reports.

According to her, the justice reform is an ambitious plan, but this is feasible when there is political and social support. “We have permanent discussions at the level of the Government, with the Premier. Next week we will have consultations with Parliament,” stated Rodica Secrieru. She noted that a part of the bills have been drafted and will be soon presented for public consultations and promoted within the Government and Parliament as matters of urgency.

Lawyer Veronica Mihailov-Moraru said Alexandru Tanase’s announcement caused particular surprise given that society is disappointed and frustrated. For those from the system, the announcement of the reform brought also hope, even if the implementation term is very short. “I think the proposed plan is very ambitious. Such reforms are necessary for our society and should have been done long ago,” stated the lawyer, noting that the highlighted problems were raised in time.

Programs director at the Legal Resources Center Nadejda Hriptievschi said the announced reform is like a breath of fresh air for the system and for society. A lot of failures were witnessed in the process of implementing the justice sector reform strategy. “The problems were defined very well. I have doubts about the success of some of the actions given the very short planned implementation period. It is an electoral year and I doubt that the initiatives will be supported by Parliament,” stated Nadejda Hriptievschi.

On January 20, the new Minister of Justice Alexandru Tanase said the law on the approval of the justice sector reform strategy for 2011-2016 was mainly a failure and announced a new justice reform.
