Ministry of Culture seeks to combat music pirating

Under an amendment proposed to the Culture Law, authorizations for selling music productions should be issued by a specialized agency. The initiative would help fighting piracy in this area, said Minister of Culture Boris Focsa, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The biggest threat to a culture is the lack of culture. For years, people have not known what is value and non-value. Creating such an agency will lead to the disappearance of shops selling pirated music. There will be control over what and where it is sold”, Focsa explained. The Ministry of Culture will present the proposed amendments to the Culture Law in a month’s time. Afterward, the project will be open to public debates. The Culture Law was adopted by Parliament in 1999 and amended in 2005.
