The president of the Superior Council of Prosecutors (SCP) Angela Motuzoc tries to obstruct the activity of the Council and risks being dismissed if she continues like that, said Minister of Justice Sergiu Litvinenco, being quoted by IPN.
Five SCP members convoked an extraordinary meeting for today, but this could not take place as a quorum was not present. SCP president Angela Motuzoc transferred the meeting to tomorrow, October 5, even if a meeting of the Superior Council of Magistracy was set for the same period of time and the minister of justice is to take part in both of them.
After the failed meeting, Sergiu Litvinenco said that five SCP members on October 1 called an extraordinary meeting of the Council so as to examine the claim submitted by MP Lilian Carp. A quorum was absent today, October 5. Only seven of the 11 members attended the meeting.
“This is an extraordinary situation. Regrettably, the law says that for the meeting to be deliberative, at least eight persons need to attend. Problems were encountered because the Council members weren’t informed about the meeting,” said Sergiu Litvinenco.
He noted that the president of the Council decided to transfer the meeting to tomorrow, 10am, even if she knew that the Superior Council of Magistracy comes together at the same hour tomorrow and has to discuss a lot of issues.
“This is a regrettable case and an attempt to obstruct the activity of SCP. Missis Motuzoc will be at least discharged as president of SCP is she continues like that,” noted Sergiu Litvinenco.
An announcement on the SCP’s website says that the Council will have a meeting on October 5 to discuss the claim about the alleged illegalities committed by Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo, submitted by Lilian Carp, head of the Parliament’s commission on national security, defense and public order.
Contacted by IPN, SCP president Angela Motuzoc was unavailable for comment.
