Minister of Defense Alexandru Pînzari is to present himself in Parliament today, June 18, for questioning. The hearing will be held at the request of PAS MPs, who asked for information about the decision to detach Moldovan service members to take part in the parade in Moscow, IPN reports.
“In the Russian Federation, there are 553,301 persons infected with COVID-19, with this country ranking third in the world by the number of contaminated people. In this connection, the PAS group asks that the minister of defense should come and explain why the 75 Moldovan soldiers had to be detached to the Russian Federation that is probably in quarantine now,” stated MP Oazu Nantoi.
According to him, representatives of the breakaway Georgian regions Abkhazia and South Ossetia were invited to the June 24 parade. The Moldovan soldiers will have to march before them too. “There is also one more moment – Ukraine, our neighbor. Through the balanced foreign policy, we should take into account the reaction of Ukraine, which is at war with the Russian Federation and pays with lives of its citizens in Donbas almost daily,” said Oazu Nantoi.
The proposal was supported by most of the attending MPs.
