Minimum subsistence level for last year made public
The minimum subsistence level for 2011 was 1,503 lei on average per person, up 9.4% on 2010. The rise in the minimum subsistence level was determined mainly by the increase in prices, especially of the food products, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the National Bureau of Statistics.
The minimum subsistence level for urban population was 1,649.9 lei on average, while for rural population – 1,398.3 lei. This discrepancy is due to the differences existing in the composition of the consumer basket and in the structure of the consumption costs of households in urban and rural areas.
By groups of people, the minimum subsistence level for working people was 1,582.8 lei, for men from this category 1,661.9 lei, for pensioners – 1,305.6 lei, for children – 1,391.4 lei a month.
The monthly child benefit given until the child turns three was 768.6 lei for ensured persons. It covered 62.1% of the minimum subsistence level for children aged 1-6. In the case of uninsured persons, the monthly child benefit of 300 lei covered only 24.2% of the minimum subsistence level for the children from this category.
The disposable monthly incomes of the population in 2011 were 1,444.7 lei on average per person. The average monthly salary in economy of an employee last year was 3,193.9 lei, up 7.5% compared with the previous year. The average monthly pension on January 1, 2012 was 873.9 lei.
