A serious accident occurred this morning near Măgdăcești village of Criuleni district. A minibus carrying passengers and a MAN truck collided. A number of ambulances, police officers and rescuer teams of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations were on the scene immediately.
Contacted by IPN for details, press officer of the Criuleni Police Inspectorate Elena Baetrău said that the police were notified of the accident at around 06:25. A truck and a minibus collided on the Drăsliceni-Chisinau route and a number of people suffered injuries.
“Following preliminary investigations, it was found that the Mercedes minibus running on the Drăsliceni-Chisinau route, driven by a man born in 1961, was struck on the left rear side by a MAN truck. Towing a trailer, the truck driver was performing a lane change maneuver without making sure it was safe to do so,” said the press officer.
As a result of the accident, 14 adult passengers and two minors from the minibus were transported by ambulances to hospitals in Chisinau to be offered the necessary medical care.
Tests at the scene showed that none of the drivers was drunk. “The team of the Criuleni Police Inspectorate is still on the scene, conducting further investigations to establish all the circumstances of the accident. We will provide more details as these become available,” stated Elena Baetrău.
