The driver of a minibus running on route No. 171 in Chisinau, who last autumn caused a road accident that resulted in three deaths and two persons injured, was sentenced to six years behind bars and banned from driving units of transport for a period of five years. He was also obliged to pay 50,000 lei damages to the injured sides, IPN reports.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the verdict was returned by the Buiucani Court. The man was found guilty of breaking the traffic rules, act that resulted in the death of three persons.
The tragedy happened on Calea Iesilor St in Chisinau on October 15, 2014. The driver changed to the contraflow lane and collided head-on with a truck moving legally. As a result, the driver of the truck and two passengers of the minibus died, while another two occupants of the minibus suffered injuries. Due to the received injuries, the driver who was convicted lost 60% of the work capacity. He fully admitted his guilt. The sentence can be appealed to a higher court.
