Minibus drivers stage protest in front of Chisinau City Hall
The drivers of minibuses running on route No. 171 Friday protested in front of the Chisinau City Hall against an older decision of 2010, whereby practically the same itineraries were set for routes No. 135 and 136. The drivers said there are days when the minibuses travel without passengers and they collect not more than 50 lei a day, Info-Prim Neo reports.
”We have a plan: every day we must give by 450 lei to the owner and buy fuel for 500-600 lei. The remaining sum belongs to the driver, if there remains something,” said one of the protesters.
The drivers said that during two years they made numerous requests to the authorities, but nothing was done. The situation worsened when the fuel prices rose.
Deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu announced that a joint meeting with the administrators of the three routes will be held on March 3 to try to find a solution to the problem.
The protests lasted for about half ah hour. In that period, the minibuses stayed parked in the Great National Assembly Square.
