Milsami Orhei ousted from Europa League
Milsami Orhei was eliminated from the European competition in the first qualifying round. The Moldovan side lost the second leg against Dinamo Tbilisi 1-3, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The match was played in Orhei, July 7, with an attendance of 3000 fans. This was the first time an European club competition fixture was played in Orhei.
After losing 0-2 in Georgia, Milsami had to attack, which they did, but missed most of the goal-scoring chances. On 69 minutes, the Orhei side suffered a big blow as midfielder Valentin Furdui got sent off. Immediately, the guests opened the score through Koskadze. The final minutes of the game were nothing less than spectacular as three goals were scored. First, Dinamo improved its advantage as Suarez scored from the penalty spot. Then, Alexandru Golban reduced the difference, scoring Milsami’s first goal in Europe. However, the Georgians had the final say as Suarez netted another one.
In the second qualifying round, Dinamo Tbilisi will play Welsh club Llanelli.
Next week, two other Moldovan teams will fight for Europa League qualification. Sheriff Tiraspol will meet Bosnia’s Zelenznicar, while Iskra Stal Rabnita will face the Croatians of NK Varazdin.
