Millions wasted on road signs

Over 10,000 road signs are installed in Moldova every year, but that still isn’t enough because many of them are vandalized or stolen. 80 million lei have been allotted from the Road Fund, for the installation of road signs in 2012, Info-Prim Neo reports. “In order to reach the necessary number of signs, we have to install 10,000 signs annually, for about 4-5 years, assuming they don’t get damaged”, declared Petru Triboi, head of the road division within the National Administration of Roads. This year, 10,000 standard signs and 258 extension traffic posts will be installed alongside the painting of road markings. Yearly, about 10% of the road signs in Moldova are damaged.
