Mihai Popșoi: Support mobilized through Moldova Partnership Platform is crucial

Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, said that the importance of the Moldova Support Platform expanded as the Republic of Moldova continued its path towards European integration. This platform was restructured into the Moldova Partnership Platform to reflect the essence of EU membership as the country’s most important strategic objective. “The support mobilized through this platform is crucial in complementing the targeted assistance for Moldova’s integration into the European Union,” the official stated at the fifth edition of the Ministerial Conference of the Moldova Partnership Platform that is held today in Chisinau, IPN reports.

“Our main objective is to transform the approach: from ad-hoc and emergency support into a long-term partnership that will guide Moldova on its path to EU membership and promote sustainable and resilient development through the necessary reforms. In order to achieve this goal, the Moldova Partnership Platform established four main working groups focused on our collective effort to build a resilient and prosperous Moldova, aligned with the values and standards of the European Union,” said Mihai Popșoi.

The first group centers on justice, anticorruption and security and will aim to strengthen the rule of law and improve the security framework of the Republic of Moldova. The second group deals with energy, energy efficiency and environmental challenges and will address environmental issues and energy efficiency. The third group focuses on sustainable economic development and strategic infrastructure and is intended to strengthen Moldova’s economic growth and develop key infrastructure projects, which are vital for the country’s progress. The fourth group deals with the public administration reform and public finance management, with a focus on reforming public administration and improving financial management to ensure efficient governance.

“I’m deeply grateful for your dedication and constant support. The dialogue and cooperation that will take place today are of particular importance for our common mission and I’m convinced that, together, we will continue to build a resilient, prosperous and European future for the Republic of Moldova,” stated Mihai Popșoi.

Six financing agreements and memoranda were signed at the fourth Ministerial Conference of the Moldova Support Platform held last year in Chisinau. The agreements mobilized a substantial package of financial support of €148.7 million, comprising €38.7 million in grants and €110 million in concessional loans. This funding is essential for the development of the Republic of Moldova's strategic sectors, such as infrastructure, energy resilience and adaptation to climate change.
