The opening of the Consulate General of the Republic of Moldova in Chicago and the launch of negotiations for the advancement of a Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Moldova and the United States of America - are priorities mentioned by Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, who reviewed the main results of his visit to the USA.

"Our citizens will enjoy quality consular services close to their homes. This will further strengthen the relationship with the diaspora, will provide consular services, thus bringing our US citizens closer to the Republic of Moldova", Mihai Popsoi said in a video intervention.

According to the minister, raising the level of relations between the Republic of Moldova and the US from strategic dialog to a strategic partnership is an important decision, which is to be approved in the spring of 2025.

The official held a series of meetings in the US with influential people from the US Senate, the Houses of Representatives, who supported the Republic of Moldova and its citizens. "They reconfirmed the strong support of the United States. We will have consistent support to strengthen the resilience and sovereignty of the republic", said Mihai Popsoi.

The Deputy Prime Minister paid a working visit to Washington, D.C., and Raleigh, North Carolina from December 2-9.
