On May 16, the politician presented his team and program in Europe Square in central Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports. “I want to provide solutions to the problems that remained unsolved for a rather long period of time. The feelings are much the same in front of the monument to Stephan the Great, behind the Triumphal Arch, and in front of the City Hall,” said Mihai Godea. He mentioned several of the principles he will employ if he is elected mayor general of Chisinau, including transparency, access to public information, responsibility in implementing activities and using public money, professionalism in developing the municipality of Chisinau, strategic partnerships with NGOs and initiative groups and with the business sector. Mihai Godea also said that among his priorities are combating of corruption and development of the suburbs of the city. He also pledged to develop the private sector. “The economic activity in the city should not be reduced to kiosks and agricultural markets only. Conditions should be created for the development of the private sector, which should administer important areas, not only shoemaker's shops and beauty salons,” said the candidate. He also promised to provide mechanisms whereby the young families will be able to obtain home loans. Mihai Godea started his election campaign with the slogan: “Beyond political games, we need competent people”. During the opening of the campaign, Mihai Godea was accompanied by dozens of young people dressed in white T-shirts with the name of the independent candidate on the back. There was installed a large board where the residents of Chisinau can write what problems they encounter. Among the members of Mihai Godea's team were economic analyst Viorel Chivriga and constitutional law expert Corneliu Gurin. Mihai Godea is the only independent candidate for mayor of Chisinau. Earlier this month, he left the Liberal Democratic Party, but preserved the seat of MP.
