Mihai Ghimpu is to blame for political crisis in Moldova, analyst

The negotiations on the re-formation of the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) haven’t started yet as they will begin after the head of state designates a candidate for the post of Premier, considers the director of the Institute for Political Analysis and Consultancy “Politicon”. Anatol Taranu stated his opinion in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

The analyst said that after Nicolae Timofti makes the name public, the countdown of 45 days to the day when the new Government is to be formed will start. Mihai Ghimpu is responsible for the political crisis faced by the country and he maintains it by refusing to take part in the talks. “It’s now certain that the crisis wasn’t overcome. There is a major impediment: PL and Mihai Ghimpu,” added Anatol Taranu.

In the same connection, journalist Valeriu Renita said it is hard to say how much time the political leaders will need, but anticipated that the new Government will be formed before Easter. “The negotiations are simulated. Everyone knows what they expect from each other, but the decisive stage hasn’t come yet,” he stated.

Politologist Vasile Croitoru believes that the negotiations held until now represented in fact a period during which the three components of the former AEI overcame the psychological barriers existing between them. There are misunderstandings in the negotiation process as they negotiate not only the post of Premier, but also of prosecutor general and of the Tax Inspectorate head. “The happenings discredit them gradually. They should not repeat the situation of 2001. They will negotiate until they are able to interpret the provisions of the Constitution,” said Vasile Croitoru.
