Mihai Ghimpu against PLDM’s initiative to remove Government presidium

The chairman of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu does not back the PLDM’s legislative initiative to eliminate the word ‘presidium’ from the Law on the Government. In a news conference on Wednesday, he said the Liberal-Democrats did not provide sufficient arguments in support of this proposal, Info-Prim Neo reports. “They should convince us that this modification is needed. Now I do not see the necessity of eliminating the presidium. We (the ruling alliance) signed the Agreement, included all the principles and values and voted for the government program. Is the presidium a problem? Then we should also eliminate the Parliament’s Standing Bureau. If so, the Head of Parliament should also say what he thinks and put the issue to the vote,” said Mihai Ghimpu. He stressed that the presidium has only one role – to agree the agenda – and thus it should work further. The Liberal-Democrat MPs Tuesday called on their colleagues from the Alliance for European Integration to vote in favor of this bill before the lawmakers’ vacation.
