Mihai Ghimpu accuses Igor Dodon of stealing verses of late Simion Ghimpu

“Igor Dodon uses the verses of my brother in the election campaign without permission,” the leader of the Liberal Party (PL) Mihai Ghimpu stated. In Wednesday's meeting of the Parliament's law commission, Ghimpu said the Communist lawmaker Igor Dodon, who is running for mayor of Chisinau, infringed copyright when he included a song under the verses of the late Simion Ghimpu in a CD that promotes the campaign “I Love Moldova”. “Dodon makes a patriot of himself. This shows once again that the members of the Ghimpu family - Gheorghe Ghimpu, Simion Ghimpu, I and Dorin Chirtoaca - are the greatest patriots. If they (the Communists) do not recognize the intellectuals and their works, why do they use them in their political struggles? They say that we are against statehood, but they do not have works to prove that they founded this country,” Mihai Ghimpu stated for Info-Prim Neo. Asked to comment on the PL leader's statements, Igor Dodon said the accusations made by Mihai Ghimpu are nothing but electoral challenges. “I personally produced no CD. The task was entrusted to an initiative group. They have all the necessary documents and contracts,” he stated. Igor Dodon launched the campaign “I Love Moldova” on April 7. The politician repeatedly said that it was not an electoral project, but a social one, designed to preserve and promote the national culture and values. Launched on May 17, the CD “I Love Moldova” includes songs sung by national artists.
