MFA warns about risk of summer fires in Turkey and Greece

The citizens of the Republic of Moldova who are, transit or intend to travel to the Republic of Turkey and the Hellenic Republic are warned about the risks of wildfires in the summer due to the high temperatures. To date, 44 fire outbreaks have been reported in Turkey, 30 of them in rural areas and 14 in wooded areas, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said.

“During the summer, very high temperatures will be recorded in particular areas of the country and there will be a high risk of wildfires in the future,” reads the Ministry’s press release that is quoted by IPN.

The MFA recommends the citizens of the Republic of Moldova to check the weather conditions and the official warnings issued by the authorities before planning the trip, to be cautious in the affected areas, but also to closely monitor the local media and to announce their presence in the risk areas by contacting the diplomatic missions/consular offices of the Republic of Moldova in Turkey and Greece, to ensure that they have sufficient fuel, water, food and to keep the mobile phones in working order.
