The Ministry of Foreign Affairs firmly rejects the statements issued by the Russian Embassy in Moldova, describing them as dangerous disinformation, launched to divert responsibility for a crisis that Moscow itself has generated. The MFA also summoned the representative of the Russian Embassy. The reaction comes as the diplomatic mission has published a statement blaming Moldova, Ukraine and the West for the energy crisis in the Transnistrian region, IPN reports.
"We categorically condemn the false allegations aimed at dividing Moldovan society and camouflaging the true origin of the energy crisis in the Transnistrian region. It is a cynical attempt to manipulate public opinion and shift the blame on Chisinau or Kyiv, while the real responsibility lies exclusively with Moscow", the MFA said.
The institution notes that the responsibility for gas supplies to the Transnistrian region lies entirely with the Russian Federation and Gazprom, which have chosen not to fulfill their contractual obligations and not to offer viable solutions to ensure the continuity of gas supplies. According to the MFA, the decision to halt deliveries is a strictly political decision aimed at destabilizing the Republic of Moldova. Any attempt to attribute this responsibility to other parties is not only false but also deeply cynical.
"The Government of the Republic of Moldova has demonstrated through concrete actions that it is committed to supporting citizens on both banks of the Dniester, including in difficult times such as the cold season. Our country strongly condemns the provocative rhetoric and dangerous insinuations about a supposed "forcible settlement" of the Transnistrian issue. The Republic of Moldova remains firmly committed to the peaceful reintegration of the country, through dialog and respect for its sovereignty and territorial integrity", a press release said.
The Foreign Ministry also urges the Russian Embassy to immediately cease its disinformation campaign, which is further damaging bilateral relations and straining the regional situation.
