Energy experts from both banks of the Nistru discussed possible ways of delivering energy resources to the Transnistrian region. Following the meeting, the authorities do not announce any agreed decision. According to the Bureau for Reintegration Policies, the dialogue on technical issues will continue in the format of specialists of thermoelectric enterprises, IPN reports.
The technical working meeting was held on Wednesday in an online format. It involved electricity sector experts from both banks of the Nistru River, representatives of the European Union Delegation to Moldova, the European Commission and offices of chief negotiators in the Transnistrian settlement process.
The Bureau noted that, in the context of the support provided by the European Union, Chisinau proposed reliable options to Tiraspol to overcome the energy crisis. Alternative mechanisms for the supply of energy resources to the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova were to be agreed and implemented.
"For the efficient development of these processes, it is necessary for Tiraspol to present technical details and statistical data divided by categories, related to the consumption of electricity and gas in the region," reads a press release.
According to the Bureau, Chisinau stressed the need to find a mechanism to ensure that the gas that will be purchased with the EU’s support meets primarily the needs of household consumers, hospitals, schools and other social centers in the region.
Moldovagaz signed a contract to lend 3 million cubic meters of gas with Tiraspoltransgaz. The volume must be given back by March 1 this year or paid.
