Medicines and medical devices compensated for 148,000 people

More than 148,000 people in August benefited from compensated medicines and medical devices, based on the electronic prescription. For these, the National Health Insurance Company transferred over 90 million lei to the contracted pharmacies, IPN reports.

Most of the money was transferred for the treatment of diseases of the circulatory system – over 48 million lei, for 10,000 patients. 20 million lei was allocated for preparations for endocrine, nutrition and metabolic diseases, for 41,000 beneficiaries.

The average cost of compensated drugs is 680 lei per person. The most expensive treatment was for diseases of the nervous system, with an average cost per patient of 1,062 lei.

Over 20,000 people benefited from compensated medical devices, and the amount allocated for these products was almost 6 million lei.

The electronic prescription can be issued by any doctor, including those of emergency units and those who provide community care and palliative care services at home. At the pharmacy, citizens can pick up compensated medicines or medical devices by presenting only their identity card.
