Over 1,060 graduates of “Nicolae Testemițanu” State University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Chisinau took the Hippocratic Oath in a festive event on the “Zimbru” Stadium. The young people promised to work consciously and with dignity and take care of the health of patients, regardless of nationality, ethnicity, social status and political affiliation, IPN reports.
Accordion to the rector of “Nicolae Testemițanu” University Emil Ceban, in the history of their University the 2022 Class will remain “special” as it went through the most serious challenge, the COVID-19 pandemic. “You studied in pandemic conditions for two years and therefore, in parallel with studies, you worked in health facilities hand in hand with doctors, did volunteer work and took part in Anti-COVID-19 vaccination marathons, helping save lives. Hence, you deserve our respect and appreciation,” stated the rector.
President Maia Sandu called on the graduates to never stop learning. She called on the graduates to remain in the Republic of Moldova, noting that the national health system needs new specialists. “Medicine and Pharmacy develop swiftly, according to the changing needs of mankind. But one thing remained unchanged. The people, their life and health, the health and wellbeing of the human race are at the core of the profession you practice,” noted the official.
Minister of Health Ala Nemerenco said the graduates are expected to go and work in hospitals, policlinics, laboratories. “You studied the noblest profession in the world as it is probably the only profession in which the word “sacrifice” is key. Besides professionalism, you need a lot of compassion, patience and mercy,” she stated.
This year, the graduation exams were passed by 618 students from Moldova and 450 international students, from 20 countries. There were trained specialists in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, preventive medicine, medical assistance and optometry.
Each class observes the tradition of laying flowers at Nicolae Testemițanu’s bust. This year, it will be celebrated the 95th anniversary of the birth of the illustrious scientist and professor.
