The mayors and the local public authorities already started to intensely prepare for joining the European Union. For the purpose, they make working visits to Romania to exchange experience with counterparts there so as to learn to absorb financial resources in the community development process, deputy chairman of the Ecologist Green Party Alexandru Ionel, mayor of de Bălăurești, stated in a news conference hosted by IPN.
According to the mayor, it goes to working trips and visits for experience exchange with mayors in Romania through the Institute for the Development and Expertise of Projects (IDEP). When Moldova joins the European family, they want to know what should be done for the provided financial resources to be absorbed swiftly, sustainably and in a proper way.
Alexandru Ionel noted that the mayors started to draft projects in accordance with their possibilities so that there is a basis when pre-accession financing is opened. The mayors want to develop the localities, while the position of the Ecologist Green Party is that Moldova should join the EU as swiftly as possible.
PVE chairman Anatolie Prohnitski said the EU is a union of diligent people. They manufacture high-quality goods that we also use and ensure real democracy where the human rights are observed. The young people leave for the EU because the quality of life there is higher and the living environment is better. Attention is devoted to the quality of the environment, food products. Discrimination is not tolerated there.
Anatolie Prohnitski also said that the EU countries help Moldova and do not ask for something instead. Moldova should follow the path of European integration, towards wellbeing. Those who want Moldova to flourish and who feel responsible for their life, for the life of their children and grandchildren, are urged to take part in the European Moldova Assembly in central Chisinau this Sunday. Russia cannot be Moldova’s friend as long as it keeps its occupation army on Moldovan territory.
The Ecologist Green Party of Moldova (PVE) in 2008 became a full-fledged member of the European Green Party. Natalia Yatsko, PVE deputy chairwoman, said the Greens have always pleaded for integration, since the party was founded. The country needs a profound change at economic and political levels. It will be a moment when a door to a better life for the people will be opened.
