A plot of 19 ha from Ciocana district will be sold through an auction for the construction of a new district in Chisinau. A draft decision on this issue is to be proposed tomorrow by the specialized services of the Mayoralty at the meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC). This decision was made on Monday at a round table organized by the Mayoralty at the initiative of the general interim Mayor of Chisinau, Vasile Ursu. The Mayoralty plans to build on this land a district with the entire necessary social infrastructure, including schools and kindergartens. At present it is not know if the land will be sold to a single economic agent or if it will be divided and sold to several investors. The interim Mayor of Chisinau advocated for selling the land by an auction to a single economic agent that will pay the biggest sum. According to Ursu, the initial cost of the land was estimated at MDL 300 million. The investor will build 10-storied blocks, social-cultural edifices, roadways, technical networks and also “parcels with flowers and grass”, so that the local budget will not be affected in anyway, the interim mayor said. Vasile Ursu proposed to create a special Commission for the auction that would assemble representatives of the Government and of Chisinau’s Mayoralty. On the other hand, the independent councilor, Mihai Severovan pleaded in favor of dividing the land into parcels so that several investors could participate at the construction of the new district. According to Severovan, the Mayoralty could obtain in this way more funds. In case the land will be sold entirely, only 2-3 investors will participate at the auction, which are monopolists in Chisinau and at present create disorder in the construction field, because they do not respect urban plans, will. A final decision will be made by the Chisinau Municipal Council in the near future.
