Two independents to contend in mayoral runoff in Ilyichovca on Dec. 29

The inhabitants of Ilyichovca commune in Florești district voted on Sunday to elect their mayor. According to the preliminary results, independent candidates Fyodor Belyi and Sergei Yeremeiko gained the most votes. Only 450 voters out of more than 1,200 registered voters went to the polls, IPN reports.

According to the Central Election Commission, candidate Fyodor Belyi won 165 votes (36.7 percent), while Sergei Yeremeiko gained 127 votes (28.2 percent).

Thus, a runoff mayoral election in Ilyichovca will be held on December 29.

Under the electoral legislation, the runoff vote is considered valid regardless of the number of voters participating in the election. The candidate for the position of mayor is considered elected if he/she gained more than half of the valid votes cast in the election.

At the same time, the CEC emphasizes that all the information, provided until the original documents from the lower electoral body is received, is preliminary.
