The mayor general of Chisinau municipality, Ion Ceban, says he does not know for the time being who are the officials targeted by the CNA searches on the fact of fraudulent public procurement, but says that the searches carried out are actions with a political tint.

"I qualify these attacks and actions as political and I consider that what they are doing goes beyond all limits, both legally and morally", the mayor said.

Asked by journalists about who the lawmen are targeting, Ceban said that he did not know enough information for now and that he would come back later with the necessary clarifications.

"We are in the process of documenting, but there are very many people targeted, people who have absolutely nothing to do with what they are trying to invoke against them in one formula or another. When we have the full information, we will see how we communicate it", the mayor said.

Two civil servants and five representatives of economic agents have been detained in corruption cases. According to the National Anti-Corruption Center, more than 60 searches were organized on Monday morning in 30 criminal cases of corruption in public procurement processes in complicity with several economic agents.
