The municipal authorities will strictly observe the laws and will ensure transparency of public finances, Chisinau Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca told a City Hall meeting on Wednesday, July 4. The heads of City Hall’s and Council’s departments were called to examine the situation related the liabilities of the municipal council. The Mayor was displeased with the fact that in the last 2 years many projects were implemented before the necessary financial resources were allotted from the municipal budget. During the meeting, interim head of the Department for Finances Valentina Vazdautan said that according to the data of June 1, 2007, the due accounts payable amounted to MDL 201 mln. Of them, the most highest debts were due to reconstruction and extension works of Pan Halippa Street – MDL 14.6 mln, reconstruction of “Gloria Muncii” Complex and of the Civil Cemetery “Eternitate” – MDL 11.6 mln, designing and construction of dams on the Golbocica river – MDL 5.7 mln, designing and construction of the trolleybus line on Independentei Street, Botanica District – MDL 5.4 mln, refitting of the districts of the municipality of Chisinau – MDL 10 mln, repairs of sidewalks – MDL 3.9 mln and for the refurbishment of public lights – over MDL 9 mln. In what concerns expenses without financial coverage there are MDL 185.1 mln, which is the compensation for the heat provided to the population in January-May, of which only MDL 40 mln were actually paid.
