May 9 concert in central Chisinau will be organized by public association
A number of activities dedicated to the day of victory over fascism will be held in Chisinau on May 9. Veterans of the Second World War are invited to special classes held in schools. The national contest of patriotic songs “Trust, Hope and Love” will start in several days, said the head of the Interethnic Relations Division Nina Stratulat, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
“During the week before May 9, the administration of Chisinau, including the councilors, will meet veterans of the Soviet Army and the Romania Army,” Nina Stratulat informed. “Meetings with veterans will be also held in district heads' offices. They will receive packets of food products and allowances. Charity meals will be organized for them.”
A lump sum of 500 lei will be given to the veterans from the municipal population support fund. The war invalids will receive by 700 lei, while the widows of war veterans by 500 lei.
“The commission of the Reserve Fund will consider the possibility of paying partly veterans' debts for public utilities,” Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said, stressing that the persons on monthly incomes lower than 1,450 lei already benefit from compensations of 40% of the heating bills.
Flowers will be laid to the memorial complex “Eternitate” on May 9. Recreational activities will be staged in Chisinau's central park. They will culminate with a concert in the Great National Assembly Square and fireworks. The concert is organized by the public association “Chisinau Community of Russians”. The concert will involve Moldovan and Russian artists.
Europe Day is marked also on May 9.
