"Matei Basarab" Theoretical High School in Chisinau went through a process to improve energy efficiency within a project supported by the Government of the Czech Republic. The works included the thermal insulation of the building, replacement of windows and modernization of electrical installations. The measures were aimed at reducing energy consumption and improving conditions for students and teachers, IPN reports.
At the inauguration event, Valentina Olaru, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Education and Research, stressed that improving the conditions in schools is essential for students to have the best possible school performance.
The Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Chisinau Jaromír Plíšek highlighted that the project is a response to current challenges, such as the energy crisis and the flow of refugees.
"I am glad that students and teachers will be able to learn and work in better conditions," added the official.
The modernization of the institution was part of a larger project that covers four other educational institutions in the Republic of Moldova: "Alecu Russo" high school in Chisinau, " Ștefan cel Mare" high school in Balti, "Taras Shevchenko" secondary school and "Mihail Ciachir" high school in Ceadâr-Lunga. The total value of the investment exceeds 10 million lei.
