Romania is one of the closest strategic and economic partners of Moldova. This partnership is based on the brotherhood relationship between the two states, Romanian Ambassador in Chisinau Marius Lazurca said in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, quoted by IPN.

The Romanian diplomat stated that Romania’s foreign policy on Moldova hasn’t changed and Romania respects Moldova’s integrity. “We support the reforms aimed at improving the climate in the country, justice and economy and support the current government. Romania is loyal to Moldova. You cannot prevent us from sympathizing with you and from having these kinship feelings. Without this sentiment, the effort we make would be more difficult,” said Marius Lazurca.

He added that it’s hard to make forecasts about the bilateral relations between Romania and Moldova. “It’s hard to project what will happen in the future. It’s yet certain that we are near the Republic of Moldova. If Moldova wants us close, we will be close. If it wants us far, we will keep our distance, but will not change the feelings towards it,” stated the Romanian official.

The ambassador considers that there are certain political groups in Moldova that intentionally manipulate society, saying Romania pursues the goal of suppressing the territorial integrity of Moldova. Marius Lazurca underlined there is no anti-Moldova party in Romania.
