Marian Lupu to attend CIS Interparliamentary Assembly meeting

Head of Parliament Marian Lupu will be taking part in the festive meeting of the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States that will be held in the Kazakh city of Almaty on March 26-28. The meeting will mark the 20th anniversary of the constitution of the Assembly, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from Parliament. The Moldovan parliamentary delegation to the meeting will also consist of Chiril Lucinschi, the head of the commission on culture, education, research and mass-media, and Gheorghe Brega, a member of the commission on social protection, health and family. While in Almaty, Marian Lupu will have bilateral meetings with the Chairman of the Senate of the Kazakh Parliament Kairat Mami, Chairman of the Parliament’s Lower House Nurlan Nigmatulin, Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia Valentina Matviyenko, and other officials. The Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States was founded on March 27, 1992, based on an agreement that was signed in Almaty by the CIS Heads of Parliament. It is a consultative body focusing on draft legislative documents of mutual interest.
