Marian Lupu joins speakers' European summit
Moldovan speaker Marian Lupu participates in the European Conference of parliament presidents from the member-states of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg on May 23 , Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the Parliament's press unit, Marian Lupu will utter a speech on the cooperation of authorities with the civil society and the contribution that the latter one may bring about in developing a young democracy.
In Strasbourg, the speaker will meet with Terry Davis, the CoE secretary general, with Viktoras Muntianas, the Lithuanian speaker, with Christian Poncelet, the president of the French senate and other officials.
The speakers' summit joins some 300 representatives of the Legislatures of those 47 member-states of the CoE, as well as from Canada, Israel, Mexico, who enjoy the status of observers in the CoE Parliamentary Assembly.
The first European conference of speakers took place in 1975, as the event is organized once in two years.
