“I call on the people to be more active and to go and vote not only in order to exercise their constitutional right, but to also show civic engagement and attitude,” the leader of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu wrote on a social networking site. The Democratic leader also posted several pictures of him casting his ballot at the polling place, IPN reports.
 
“Today, the people in over 450 settlements are choosing the representative of the local power, who will be responsible for solving the local problems during the next four years,” said Marian Lupu.

He wrote that the progress, welfare and European integration necessitate a responsible attitude of the political class at the central or local levels and first of all the civic engagement of the people.
