Speaker Marian Lupu, Moldova’s Acting President, said the truth about the April 7, 2009 events may be never discovered. In a program on Pro TV Chisinau on Monday evening, the official said the authorities showed their inability to stop the devastation of the state buildings and to shed light on those events, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We do not know who planned the protests and we may never know. If certain forces were behind those events, neither the Prosecutor General’s Office nor the Security and Information Service with its limited technical capacities will achieve results in the investigations,” said Marian Lupu. According to him, if there were certain forces, the delay in examining the cases concerning the April 2009 events may anyway be due to the fact that those forces do not want the truth to be discovered. The Speaker also said that neither the legislative body nor the head of state must influence the investigations so as not to hinder or politicize the process of examining the cases by prosecutors. Marian Lupu ruled out the possibility that the April 7, 2009 protests were staged by foreign forces. He argued that there are no proofs of Romanian, Russian or other forces having been involved in those events.
