Marcel Spatari: 60% of registered families fall into highest vulnerability category

The largest part of the families that registered on the platform compensatii.gov.md fall into the highest energy vulnerability category. Minister of Labor and Social Protection Marcel Spatari said most of the Moldovans need state support to pay their bills. The highest subsidy for gas for the most vulnerable citizens will be 3,110 lei a month, IPN reports.

The minister noted that the citizens can apply for state subsidies by November 25. The persons who already registered are the most vulnerable ones and will benefit from the largest support from the state.

“The two-member families with incomes of about 10,000 lei a month belong to the highest vulnerability category. Preliminary estimates show 60% of the families that registered fall into the highest vulnerability category. A lot of families will get the highest subsidy,” Marcel Spatari stated in the program “Shadow Cabinet” on JurnalTV channel.

Under the Government’s decision, the consumers with very high energy vulnerability will pay 12 lei/m of gas. For consumers will high energy vulnerability, the final gas price will be 14 lei/m3. For those from the moderate vulnerability category, the final price will be 17 lei/m3, while for consumers with reduced energy vulnerability, it will 24 lei/m3. The state will subsidize at most 180 cubic meters of gas a month per consumption place.

“The difference between these charges and the regulated rats will be covered by the Government. A sum of 5 billion lei was allocated for paying subsidies during the cold period and we need to divide this sum of 5 billion lei as equitably as possible,” stated Marcel Spatari.

The state will provide subsidies to household users for the natural gas, centralized heating and electrical energy used in November 2022 – March 2023. Those who will not register on the Government’s platform will be automatically classed as moderately vulnerable and will get an average subsidy in November. However, in December they will be added to the reduced energy vulnerability category so as to stimulate them to register.

“A final decision hasn’t been yet taken. This will depend on the way in which the mechanism is implemented. 40% of those who registered did it with the help of social workers or librarians. About 270,000 families were registered by social workers and librarians. I call on the public servants to register as this is a moral obligation. If you work for the state, you are paid from public funds and should register on the platform,” stated the minister.
