The head of the political party “Moldova’s Salvation Front” Marcel Darie, who is investigated for large-scale swindle, pleads not guilty. The politician said the criminal case against him was started by order.
In a news conference at IPN, Marcel Darie said that since he took over the party “Moldova’s Salvation Front”, he has been the target of political attacks staged by order of the Party of Socialists (PSRM), which was earlier led by the President of Moldova Igor Dodon. Not even two months after he entered politics, he was informed that he is investigated in a criminal case that concerns his work as a jurist at the firm run by his brother, which stopped work meanwhile.
The party’s chairman noted that his brother’s firm constructed attic-like apartments in Chisinau. After an attic-like apartment story in Botanica district burned three years ago, the Chisinau City Hall banned the erecting of such apartments. As the works were suspended, many owners had to deal themselves with the connection of attic-like apartments to the gas, electric power, water and heat supply. These persons consider themselves victims and informed the law enforcement bodies about this.
According to the politician, many of the plaintiffs are supporters of the Party of Socialists and these complained against his brother’s firm by order of President Igor Dodon. “At the start of this year, representing legally an investment company, I came into conflict with the PSRM, in particular with President Igor Dodon. The PSRM uses illegal methods to exert pressure on businessmen and investors for campaigning and political PR purposes and even for extorting money in some cases,” stated Marcel Darie.
He also said that the police carried out searches at his home in Criuleni district, at his mother’s apartment in Chisinau, at the National Arm-wrestling Sports Federation that he heads and at the office of his brother, who now manages another firm. “I entered politics and think there is no person in politics who wouldn’t be the target of the law enforcement bodies at present,” said the party’s leader.
Marcel Darie considers the actions against him are political in character. In a news conference in several days, he will speak about the acts of corruption committed by the administration of the PSRM, including President Igor Dodon.
