Manager of Romanian Language House to be designated by contest
The Chisinau Municipal Council approved on Tuesday, July 25, the statute of the Municipal Enterprise “Romanian Language House – Nichita Stanescu”. At the solicitation of the communists’ faction, a contest will be organized for the position of manager. Alexandru Bantos, who was the director of the Romanian Language House, will fulfill the duties of ad interim up to the moment the contest for the position of manager will be organized. Also, CMC approved the composition of the contest commission.
According to the statute, the main goals of the “Romanian Language House – Nichita Stanescu” are education activities for adults and other types of education, activities of other culture institutions, activities of libraries, including reading halls, as well as publishing books and other publications.
According to the representatives of the Culture department, the name of the enterprise was changed from “Romanian Language House” into “Romanian Language House – Nichita Stanescu” at the solicitation of the Embassy of Romania in Chisinau. At the same time by organizing Romanian Language study courses, cultural and scientific events, the institution contributes to improving the language climate of the municipality and expanding the area of Romanian Language use.
Leonid Gorceac, interim-head of the Culture Department declared at the meeting of CMC that every year about 800 inhabitants of Chisinau study Romanian at the Romanian Language House, of which 60% are taught for free. CMC offered MDL 250 thousand for this institution.
The “Romanian Language House” Culture and Study Assistance Center was created in 1998.
