Man who put forged money into circulation gets six years

A 39-year-old man was sentenced to six years in jail after he had put forged money into circulation, IPN reports.

The Prosecutor General’s Office said the man during May-June last year distributed forged bills with the face value of $50, acting in concert with his female partner and other persons who are yet to be identified. The man knew the bills were forged and used them to make different payments inside Moldova.

The man had earlier committed other offenses.  Until the sentence becomes definitive, he will remain in remand detention.

The sentence can be challenged in the Chisinau Appeals Court within 15 days.
