A man aged 61 died when he was struck by a car near Cișmea village of Orhei municipality. After he was projected to the contraflow lane, a route minibus passed over him without stopping at the place.
The police were alerted by an anonymous person at about 7pm on November 16.
Contacted by IPN for details, press officer of the Orhei Police Inspectorate Elena Băetrău said the police officers who travelled to the scene determined that a 55-year-old driver heading for Orhei hit the pedestrian who was jaywalking in a badly lit place.
Eyewitnesses said the pedestrian after the impact was thrown onto the contraflow lane and a minibus running on the Bălți-Chisinau route went across him without stopping.
Criminal proceedings were instituted.
