A resident of Chisinau aged 37 was sentenced to 17 years in jail for killing his lover, a former beauty contest awardee. The prosecutors consider the sentence is too mild and intend to appeal it and to demand life for the culprit, IPN has learned from the Prosecutor General’s Office.

The Chisinau Prosecutor’s Office established that in November 2012, while in the apartment of his lover and being under the influence of alcohol, the culprit quarreled with the victim aged 27 and then stabbed her for several times with a knife. After committing the crime, he called a friend, who helped him remove the evidence. Afterward, they stole things to the value of about 20,000 lei from the apartment. The body of the victim was found in her bathroom by a neighbor, who called the girl’s parents who were working abroad.

Recently, the Buiucani Court sentenced the culprit to 17 years in jail for deliberate murder and theft. The charges against the accomplice were dropped in connection with his death.
