A man was electrocuted near Dumbrava village while doing unauthorized works to lay drainage pipes in the protection area of the overhead power lines together with colleagues of his, IPN reports
In a communiqué, the electricity distributor Red Union Fenosa SA says the accident happened on May 14. Representatives of the carrier and the drainage company involved in the works said the crane was used to reposition a drainage pipe laid earlier. Coordinating the arm of the crane, the employee took the lifting cable with his left hand in order to attach the drainage pipe. An electric arc appeared at that moment and the man was electrocuted.
According to the Legal Examination Center, the man suffered a cardiac arrest and died immediately.
On May 14, it rained throughout the day and the wetness degree was high. These conditions favored the accident.
Red Union Fenosa SA says the economic entities involved in the works seriously violated the regulations on the protection area. It calls on everyone to strictly obey the rules regarding the coordination and execution of works near electrical installations.
