A man aged 43 died when he entered a lake situated near Cimișlia town with his car. It was preliminarily determined that the driver lost control of the car.
Cimișlia Police Inspectorate press officer Cristina Vicol said the incident happened on June 14. The police were called by persons who were fishing in that lake.
It was established that the man and his friends drank alcoholic beverages together near the lake. Close to 4am, the man disappeared.
The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was taken out of the water by locals, but he was already dead. There were no visible signs of violence on the body.
Rescuers travelled to the scene to tow the car out of the lake. According to the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, the operation lasted for three hours.
