The COVID-19 disease claimed two more lives in Moldova. These are a woman aged 81 and a 78-year-old man, Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu was quoted by IPN as saying after the April 6 meeting of the National Focal Point.
The minister related that the woman was transferred from Căușeni to Chisinau on April 5. She had worsening pneumonia. The man was hospitalized in critical condition on April 4. He had cardiopathy and hypertension.
Viorica Dumbrăveanu stated that the laboratory in Bălți will soon start to perform COVID-19 tests. Preparations are also made to ensure tests are also done for the southern districts.
A state of emergency was declared in Moldova for 60 days on March 17. Moldova so far has got 864 confirmed cases of infection with COVID-19 and 17 deaths associated with the novel coronavirus. The dead include three doctors.
