A male anthropomorphic statuette from fired clay was found in Glinjeni village of Fălești district. The director of the National Archeology Agency Vlad Vornic has told IPN that the male statuette is fragmentary and was discovered in a clay bank. Such statuettes are met seldom as the female statuettes prevail.

According to Vlad Vornic, the location where the statuette was found dates from the first half of the fourth millennium Before Christ and belongs to the archeological culture Cucuteni- Trypillia.

Such satiates are cult pieces. According to specialty literature, the statistical ratio is one male statuette to 40 female statuettes.

Vlad Vornic noted that the piece will be transmitted to a museum, most probably to the local Museum in Glinjeni. It will happen after the archeological material is processed, photographed and prepared for scientific examination.

The director of the National Archeology Agency said the Cucuteni-Trypillia location in Glinjeni was discovered in 2020 by archeologist Ion Noroc, who now teaches history in Balti. The archeological site was damaged by an unauthorized clay pit that was exploited the previous years. The Glinjeni mayor’s office was warned about the necessity of protecting the archeological site as unauthorized excavation works near such sites are banned. In the clay banks, there were detected remains of a house and two complexes, a hole and probably a ditch that were damaged during clay extraction works. Rescue digging works and site protection measures are needed in the immediate period.
