Maia Sandu’s visit to Bucharest creates a framework for continuing projects, opinion

The visit paid by Maia Sandu to Bucharest creates a framework between the current authorities of the Republic of Moldova and Romania based on which the ongoing projects implemented during many years will be continued, journalist Vlad Țurcanu was quoted by IPN as saying in a program on TVR Moldova channel.

“A relationship that would remove all kinds of phobias and suspect things that yet characterize the relationship between Bucharest and Chisinau could be established,” stated the commentator, noting that when more results in the relations between Romania and Moldova are achieved, the people could be told how particular projects develop.

According to the journalist, no matter who is in power in Moldova, Romania cannot afford to act in a different way than by offering support. “Romania will keep this interest as it is the state policy towards the Republic of Moldova that should not take into account the combinations in Chisinau and who is in power. This visit by Maia Sandu to Bucharest could probably remove these fears,” said Vlad Țurcanu.

Former minister Valeriu Munteanu noted Romania is not a standard neighbor of the Republic of Moldova. Furthermore, the officials in Romania know very well Moldova’s habits and know in what conditions the government coalition was formed in Chisinau. The promised energy interconnection between Moldova and Romania should be ensured. For the purpose, the new minister of economy should set up a commission that would deal with this matter or things will not move on.
