Maia Sandu: We will respect the choice of people

Prime Minister Maia Sandu has declared that she will respect the choice made by the inhabitants of the capital and that she expects Andrei Năstase to return to the Government as soon as possible, IPN reports.

At a press briefing held on November 4, Maia Sandu mentioned that, in her opinion, the capital's inhabitants lost a good potential mayor. "Democracy is a permanent exercise. No victory, no defeat is final," said Maia Sandu.

The prime minister urged Ion Ceban to respect all the promises made in the election campaign. "We lost a battle, but the real fight against corruption is being waged. There is a difficult period ahead of us, when it will be clear if everyone in the parliamentary majority was sincere while undertaking the justice reform. Igor Dodon must give up dishonest games, which undermine this reform," stressed the prime minister.

Maia Sandu has stated that she is prepared to fight for a fair justice system from the position she holds and even to go out on the streets, if necessary.

The prime minister mentioned that the greatest victory of these elections is that citizens could vote freely. "Citizens had a lot of candidates to choose from, there were many contenders. People were able to freely choose their community leaders. The government will work with all elected mayors and local public authorities,” the prime minister emphasized.
