Maia Sandu, who is running for a second presidential term, said that she voted for Moldova to develop in peace and freedom, for Moldova to build the future it wants and deserves. “I voted specifically for the Moldovans not others, not dirty money, not lies to decide their fate, but the will of the people,” Maia Sandu said after exercising her right to vote. A number of citizens gathered at the polling station and chanted “Moldova, let’s vote!”, IPN reports.
The candidate of the Party of Action and Solidarity made an appeal to the citizens. “Dear citizens, go and vote this Sunday and make two important decisions for our country. Take two ballots, vote in the referendum and elect the President of the Republic of Moldova for the next four years. Our vote in the referendum will decide our fate for many decades to come. Dear citizens of the diaspora, I know that you are worried about the dear people who remained at home and you go and vote so that the dear ones at home can continue to live in peace,” said Maia Sandu. She noted that everyone’s vote is important and it is not just a stamp on paper, but it is the citizen’s word for their fate, it is a choice that will shape the future tomorrow.
Polls close at 09:00 p.m. However, the electoral office can may decide to extend the voting deadline by at most two hours to allow voters standing in a line at the polling station to cast ballots.
