Criminal assets should be recovered and brought back to the Republic of Moldova so that they are used in the interests of the whole society, President Maia Sandu sated in a Moldovan-French conference centering on the recovery of criminal assets. The event that was held in Chisinau brought together police officers, prosecutors and judges from the two states for experience exchange, IPN reports.
“The acceleration of the repatriation of this money is vital. Our European path and the survival of our country as a democratic state depend on the progress we will make in this direction. I think this discussion platform that gathered together the responsible authorities of Moldova and leading figures of the law enforcement system of France will produce the expected resuts,” said President Sandu, being quoted in a press release.
The official underlined France’s assistance in fighting grand corruption and in recovering assets stolen from Moldova. She called on the law enforcement agencies to combine forces by the cooperation model of France, to cooperate with counterparts from other states, especially countries in which criminals who fled Moldova are hiding.
