President Maia Sandu invited the new President of the Swiss Confederation Alain Berset to pay a visit to the Republic of Moldova. In a meeting, the Moldovan official thanked her Swiss counterpart for the consistent support for reforms and modernization efforts provided by Switzerland to Moldova, noting the Moldovan-Swiss partnership should be further strengthened, IPN reports, quoting the presidential press service.
“I transmitted to President Berset our gratitude for the excellent cooperation we have established with Switzerland over the last few years and for the development programs supported by the Government of Switzerland in the Republic of Moldova in time, in different sectors, such as local development, infrastructure, education, and health,” said President Sandu.
The officials also discussed the bilateral cooperation in the anticorruption sector and the recovery of assets stolen from the citizens and considered the opportunity of signing a social protection agreement between the two counties.
“Switzerland is an important development partner of the Republic of Moldova. We praise and want to develop this partnership, including by signing the Agreement on the European Economic Area (EFTA) in the interests of the citizens of both of the countries,” said the Moldovan official.
