President Maia Sandu said Germany is an important and reliable partner of the Republic of Moldova. The German investments ensure jobs for thousands of Moldovans and tens of projects in the country are financed by German partners. In a meeting with the President of the German Bundestag Bärbel Bas, President Sandu thanked for the excellent cooperation and expressed her conviction that, with the support of Germany and other democratic states, Moldova will remain part of the free world and will be able to ensure peace and wellbeing for its citizens, IPN reports.
“Germany finances water supply and sewerage projects in a number of localities in the country and projects to support small and medium-sized enterprises. This winter, Germany contributed €40 million to the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund from which subsidies were provided for paying energy bills,” noted the Moldovan official.
She also said that additional non-reimbursable assistance for renewable energy and energy efficiency projects was recently announced. These and many other projects bring concrete benefits to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova.
“The German partners help us to strengthen the defense sector and the internal affairs sector so as to offer increased safety to our citizens. Also, Germany supports our European integration objective and helps us to strengthen the capacities of state institutions so as to faster advance on this path,” stated Maia Sandu.
The visit paid by Bärbel Bas is the second visit by a President of the German Bundestag to Moldova since diplomatic relations were established between the two states.
